8 Things WWE Got Wrong At TLC 2017
4. No T, No L, No C
This was the ninth instalment of TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs, and the event is (obviously) synonymous with the gimmick matches that it is named after. When you say ‘TLC’ to a wrestling fan, they will think of tables, ladders and chairs before they think of T-Boz, Left Eye and Chilli. The main event brought all three aspects to the table last night.
There wasn’t a gimmick match in sight on the rest of the card however. WWE running gimmick pay-per-views is silly in itself, but if you’re going to have a ‘TLC’ pay-per-view then you should be booking some tables, some ladders and some chairs.
Would Enzo and Kalisto have benefited from their Cruiserweight Championship match being contested under ladder match rules? The cruiserweight tag team match was hotter than many expected it to be, but adding tables may have upped the ante somewhat.
The true indictment here was WWE’s inability to book a card from top to bottom. This was a one-match show that became a two-match event thanks to illness, and everything outside of the main event and the battle of Bullet Club was a total afterthought.
