8 Things WWE Got Wrong At TLC 2017

3. Kurt Angle's Return

The main event was a mess long before the bell rang to kick it off. A 5-on-3 handicap match is generally a bad idea to begin with, but the emotion and nostalgia of The Shield reuniting was expected to overcome that problem. Roman Reigns was taken out of the bout however, to be replaced by RAW General Manager Kurt Angle.

This was Kurt Angle’s first match in a WWE ring for 11 years. His physical condition has been a serious question for a long time, and those health issues were believed to be the reason he was kept out of the ring. Where is the logic in putting him in a TLC match?

The nostalgia of Angle wrestling was something, but Kurt was basically a bystander in this match. He was taken out early, making this a 5-on-2 handicap match. Nobody wants to see Kurt put his health on the line, but his interactions with the heels were kept to a minimum, and most of that was Angle working with Kane.

The WWE Universe didn’t even get Angle’s entrance with which to chant ‘You Suck’ until the match was coming to an end. Kurt Angle’s return was one of the aces up WWE’s sleeve - and they somehow managed to mess it up. There will never be another chance for Angle’s emotional return.
