8 Things WWE Got Wrong At TLC 2017
1. The Murder Of Braun Strowman II: The Compacting
Adding Braun Strowman to the match was a foolish move, to say the least. The 'Monster Among Men' has been one of the most destructive superstars on the roster in 2017, yet here he was with the numbers on his side. Any team with Strowman and a numbers advantage should be unbeatable, to put it mildly.
WWE needed to find a way to get Strowman out of the match. What were their options? Strowman abandoning his partners? The Shield managing to isolate him and put him through multiple tables, incapacitating him? The Miz beckoning a garbage truck out into the arena, and his partners tossing Strowman into the back?
Only in WWE could those three options be on the table, and only in WWE could the final one be chosen. For the second time in 2017, Braun Strowman was involved in vehicular homicide. Fresh off surviving Roman Reigns’ attempt on his life, it is difficult to see how 'The Monster Among Men' can survive being compacted in the back of a garbage truck.
The (second) 'Murder of Braun Strowman' was just one of many wacky moments in the main event of WWE TLC. All of the promotion’s plans went out of the window in the days leading up to the event. Roman Reigns was taken out of the big Shield reunion, and Kurt Angle’s return to the ring was rushed as a result. Bray Wyatt (well, Sister Abigail) was taken off the card and replaced with an impromptu Bullet Club battle.
Things could have been a thousand times worse last night, and WWE deserves some credit for trying to make the most of a bad situation. The WWE Universe really could have done without murder, 50% of Kurt Angle, and his son’s disrespectful behaviour towards fruit and vegetables though.
