5. His Name Was "Buh-Buh" Because He Stuttered When He Spoke
The reason his name is Bubba Ray Dudley is because in the original incarnation of the character in the ECW days, he was known as "Buh-Buh" Ray due to his stuttering problem. When The Dudleys first arrived in WWE in 1999, they had him do the stuttering gimmick. When he would say his name, Buh-Buh would stutter causing him to say 'My name is Buh-buh-buh-buh' until Big Dick Dudley would hit him in the chest, at which point he would yell out "My name is Bubba Ray Dudley!" He was always a really good talker, so having him out there stuttering was a waste of one of his best talents. That gimmick didn't last too long during his WWE run. He ended up going with the name Bubba Ray spelled that way and that's the name he's most known for all these years later. What's interesting about the stuttering gimmick is that WWE has given it to other wrestlers like Matt Morgan. Why would they think it's a good idea for a character? It's really more of a way to kill a character because anybody that was saddled with it has ended up not working out. It was an embarrassing twist to the character that WWE wants us to forget.
