8 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Bubba Ray Dudley
6. He Was Released In 2005 After Headlining First One Night Stand PPV
It was odd timing to say the least. Bubba Ray and D-Von headlined the first ECW One Night Stand 2005 PPV that WWE held as the first ECW PPV since they bought the company. They were in a bloody, violent match against Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman. The crowd loved everything they did. There was a big segment after the match was done, but that was the last match on the card. Soon after that show took place, Bubba and D-Von were released by WWE. It's rare to see talents go from main eventing a first time ever PPV that was great to just being gone soon after. That's what happened to the Dudleys. It shouldn't be like that, right? That's just how the wrestling business is sometimes. This came at a time when WWE felt like they had no idea how to use these guys anymore even though they were one of the best tag teams in the world. Most likely WWE just felt like they couldn't do anything else with them, so they decided to part ways.
