8 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Michael Cole

1. His WrestleMania Victory

Michael Cole is 1-0 at WrestleMania. It's a statistic which really boils the blood of many wrestling fans, particularly those who watched the infuriating episode unfold at the time. During his previously mentioned feud with Jerry Lawler, Cole agreed to a showdown at WrestleMania 27 - on the condition that he be allowed to choose his own ringside trainer and special guest referee. Swagger was appointed as the trainer, but before JBL could sign his referee's contract, Steve Austin crashed the party and signed it for himself. It was a poorly-disguised ploy to save audience interest in the bout, but even if Stone Cold's inclusion had steadied the ship slightly, the booking of the match itself completely capsized it. Astonishingly - despite fans unanimously calling for Lawler to be given a highly-deserved WrestleMania moment - Cole actually won the match. He tapped out to King's ankle lock submission, but saw the result reversed by the Anonymous Raw GM after Austin involved himself physically. It was a highly unpopular decision, and probably stands as the single most detested moment of Cole's career.
