8 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Michael Cole

2. His Brock Lesnar Injuries

On March 30th 2015, the Raw after WrestleMania 31, an incredibly angry Brock Lesnar delivered a vengeful F5 to Michael Cole. The spot dealt Cole serious (kayfabe) injuries and kept him out of action for a short while, and made total sense in terms of the wider storyline. Lesnar was incensed at being screwed out of the WWE Championship at 'Mania, and - with Seth Rollins evading him - took out his anger on the innocent WWE staff around him. It fit his character, and seemed a sensible way of maintaining his dangerous aura. Then came the specification of the injuries themselves. WWE reported that Cole was suffering from a cervical fracture and damaged vertebrae, injuries uncomfortably close to those sustained by Perro Aguayo Jr. during the match that tragically led to his death. To make matters even worse, Aguayo's death occurred just ten days prior to Cole's kayfabe injuries. Thankfully, WWE seemed to realise this, and moved on with the storyline relatively quickly.
