4. Vince Is Listening... Or So He Claims

The WWE hierarchy's steadfast refusal to listen to their fans is a constant bugbear. The company's market position is strong enough that they can essentially do what they want, when they want, without repercussions, and while the McMahons must be aware of this complaint, their stubbornness endures.

Many a wrestling aficionado would have sighed, then, when Vince kicked his spiel off by saying "in 2020, we're going to give the game of football back to the fans."

This was a recurring theme throughout the call. Vince continually returned to the to the promise of listening to his audience, stressing a "fan-centric" approach to football that'll offer much more interaction than anything else currently out there. "We're going to ask the question: 'what would you do if you could re-imagine the game?'", he claimed without offering any indication of how we're supposed to do so.

It's impossible not to be cynical about Vince's words here. WWE is very much his way or the highway, so why would the audience have any reason to believe this will be any different? We'd love to trust him, but his track record makes it impossible to do so, and it feels very much like pure cynicism from the Chairman.
