8. Speaking Out About The Miz Main Eventing WrestleMania 27
Despite being arguably the most hated man in WWE for some time, CM Punk was nowhere near the main event of 2011s WrestleMania in Atlanta, Georgia. Instead, the spot was given to The Miz, who ended up arguably proving his worth in the weeks prior to the Showcase of the Immortals and in the final match, itself. However, according to CM Punk - from his own Best in the World documentary - he felt that not only was The Miz not ready for such a monumental position, but that he was more suited for the heel champion spot. Instead, the Straight Edge Superstar was saddled with a lackluster storyline of leading the New Nexus as he feuded with Randy Orton. While its hard to argue with Punks position, his willingness to speak so brashly on the issue could not have sat well with the companys decision makers. Many stories have come out over the years of various superstars being punished for voicing their opinions perhaps a bit too loudly. However, Punks frustration with failing to main event Mania 27 helped fuel his infamous pipebomb promo months later.
