At 2017’s NXT TakeOver: Chicago, fans got to see DIY explode as Tommaso Ciampa turned heel by attacking his bestest bud, Johnny Gargano.

Given how Gargano was – and still is - the most sympathetic babyface in WWE, the crowd ate it up and showered Ciampa in hate. One key part of this attack, of course, was Tommaso throwing Johnny Wrestling through the stage’s LED board.

The whole Ciampa/Gargano rivalry was unfortunately put on hold due to The Blackheart requiring knee surgery, but eight months later we’d see Ciampa return to once again attack Johnny and reignite this rivalry. In fact, the intense hatred between the pair would even lead to Gargano being consumed by anger and embracing a darker turn of character. So dark, he'd even re-team with Tommaso Ciampa.

Once again, however, this partnership wasn’t to last as, after being eliminated from this year's Dusty Rhodes Classic by Alesiter Black and Ricochet, Ciampa stalked Gargano as he looked to repeat his initial attack from TakeOver: Chicago. This time, Johnny was one step ahead of his nemesis and turned the tables by throwing Ciampa into the LED board – the reverse of what we’d seen during the initial DIY break-up.

Sadly, the LED board attack wasn’t the only thing to be repeated, for Ciampa was again forced to take time off, this time for neck surgery.
