8 Times Paul Heyman Said What Everyone Was Thinking
3. 'Five seconds after walking through the curtain at WrestleMania, the Undertaker collapsed'
Heyman's mic work enjoyed a resurgence upon being reunited with Brock Lesnar in 2012. However, his best promo came two years later, following Lesnar's shocking defeat of the Undertaker at WrestleMania 30. Heyman took great pleasure in revelling over the breaking of Taker's streak, repeatedly emphasising how devastated the global wrestling community was at the result. The best part of his promo was the shoot revelation that Undertaker had collapsed after walking back through the curtain, the result of a concussion sustained early in the match. Rumours of the Phenom's condition began to circulate immediately following the match, in which he moved in an uncharacteristically dazed and uncertain manner. Heyman's confirmation that Taker was legitimately hurt make Lesnar seem like even more of a beast, worsening the shock of the Deadman's defeat and calling into question the chances of him wrestling ever again. It was a masterful - if slightly harsh - use of real-life concerns to emphasise the severity of a storyline.
