8 Times Stone Cold Steve Austin Lost Clean

5. Vs. Undertaker & Kane (Breakdown: In Your House)

It was now the autumn of 1998 and a few things had happened. The WWE had ended an 84 week losing streak against WCW Monday Nitro in the ratings, Vince McMahon had transformed himself into the biggest heel in WWE history, and Stone Cold had won the WWE Title twice and lost it once.

This was his second loss and whilst technically a clean defeat, this "triple threat match", essentially a glorified handicap match against Undertaker and Kane, did everything it could to protect its golden egg laying goose.

This is another match and PPV which generally gets lost in the history books and for good reason. Make no mistake about it, this is a brutally bad match. It's slow, full of botches and bad timing and due to the handicap nature of it, had little in the way of chemistry. The finish saw both Undertaker and Kane pin Austin at the same time after a double chokeslam, doing all they could to keep him strong. Austin did not lose clean for another eleven months.
