8 Times TNA Turned Trash Into Treasure
1. The Claire Lynch Trifecta: The Summer Of AJ
After securing victory for the Main Event Mafia and sending Devon packing, AJ delivered the best promo of his TNA career, running down the company for their numerous missteps, and putting himself over as one of the guys that built TNA. After months of silence, his first words were guaranteed to have impact, no pun intended, but this was a kickass promo, one that went relatively unappreciated by the fans in attendance.
AJ then set his sights on the World title. Dixie Carter, unhappy with AJ's comments, tried to screw him out of the opportunity - going so far as to rip up his contract to prove how little he mattered to her - but AJ defeated Bully Ray and won the championship.
He then declined Dixie's desperate offer for a new contract, and left with the belt.
Yes, they did the CM Punk / Money in the Bank storyline with AJ Styles. But here's the thing: TNA did it better. AJ took the title to other promotions, and he was off TV for a lot longer than a week. (There were "Friends of AJ" vignettes on TNA Impact, as well as a great bit where Rockstar Spud snuck into AJ's house and tried to steal the title back.)
AJ then returned for a unification match against Dixie's champion Magnus, and got screwed out of the title after so much outside interference (eight people, I think, by the end) that he looked like King Kong, Superman, and John Cena combined by the end of it.
