8 Times WWE Failed To Create A Main Event Player

4. Test - 1999

Andrew Martin had a lot of qualities that Vince McMahon looks for in a top guy. He was tall, muscular and a lovely head of hair. Seriously, you cannot underestimate the importance of a well-groomed mane when working for Vince. After spending time in the Corporation stable, Test would form a relationship with Stephanie McMahon that would see him dip his toe in the main event waters. Being linked with a McMahon on screen is basically a guarantee that you're going to get a lot of screen time. Test's relationship with Stephanie resulted in a surprisingly great street fight with her big brother Shane at SummerSlam. From there, Test had problems with Triple H, who secretly married Steph before Test had the chance to. It was an effective soap opera angle but, really, should have led to the elevation of Test and a top level programme with The Game. Fans wanted to see it and Test was ready to do there. Even if he had failed, at least they tried, right? Why wasn't Test the third man in the triple threat match at Survivor Series 99? So many missed opportunities with this Instead it became Vince versus Triple H and Test slid down the card, forming a humdrum tag team with Albert. WWE tried to to make Test a main event guy again in 2006/07 in the relaunched ECW, but the guy was a walking wellness policy violation and was released after about six months.
