Heres a perfect example of WWE catching lightning in a bottle and rather than making the most out of it, they did their best to stifle and silence it. Earlier this year, Damien Sandow was drawing some of the biggest reactions on the roster in his comedic role as stunt double for The Miz. Nobody could have predicted that what started out as one of the lamest gimmicks WWE has booked in quite some time would catch on like wildfire, but thats exactly what happened. After failing to grab any traction with his intellectual savior of the masses character (which he's sadly now returned to) and becoming one of the very few people to fail in their Money in the Bank cash-in attempt, Sandow had finally latched onto something that was working. Logic would dictate that he would split from Miz and go over him in a big match. Unfortunately logic wasnt at play during this feud. Despite the fact the crowd was willing him to win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 31, WWE made the brilliant decision of having Big Show win instead. Because if theres anybody who needs an important win to establish them its that up-and comer Big Show with all his untapped potential. What a hoss! Then we got a couple of unimportant throwaway bouts between Sandow and Miz before Damien was placed in a ridiculous MegaPowers tribute team with Curtis Axel for a few weeks, before being taken off TV entirely due to the Hulk Hogan racism scandal. Im not suggesting that Mizdow would have been the next Hogan (in terms of how over he was, not the racism thing), but he was hot and had the support of the people and rather than running with it they torpedoed him entirely.
