3. Repairing NXT's Main Roster Call Ups

It wasn't so long ago that fans dreaded their favourite NXT superstars being called up to the main roster. The prospect of Vince McMahon changing people's names, altering their gimmicks, and undoing years of a wrestler's hard work building a connection with fans, just because he "didn't get it", was excruciating. It killed the whole concept of NXT. Why would a fan invest in NXT if the best members of that roster were about to be decimated as soon as they reached the main roster?

Fast forward to 2025. Oba Femi was booked in a match with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at John Cena's retirement show. Oba's entrance felt monolithic, he went toe-to-toe with the company's golden boy, and he set up a blockbuster feud with Drew McIntyre in less than 10 mins of in-ring action. Ilja Dragunov just had one of the most exciting championship reigns of the year with the US title, which he dropped to fan-favourite NXT graduate, Carmelo Hayes.

Fans can once again hope that the likes of Je'Von Evans, 'All Ego' Ethan Page, Ricky Saints, and the entire women's division will get the chance to live and die on their own talent. It may not always be plain sailing, but we've come a long way from LA Knight being renamed Max Dupri and repackaged as the head of Maximum Male Models.
