2. Input From The Wrestlers
Last May I interviewed a number of Lucha Underground talents, and one thing a handful of them raved about was being able to contribute to their own characters and storylines. Mundo, who left WWE in November 2011, said to me, "The best shows, whether it's movies, TV, theatre, they're the result of collaboration". Talents that leave WWE often bring up the stifling atmosphere, with dozens of creative team members writing shows that will only be trampled by the higher-ups, ones that won't kowtow to anything except for their own tired instincts. With control-freakery plaguing WWE, why not let the wrestlers shoot their own angles? You can hear authenticity coming out of New Day, Kevin Owens, and Chris Jericho, but there does need to be more organic emotion and thought coming into play. The performers should 'feel' what they portray. This is definitely something that WWE should look to crib from Lucha Underground. Hell, they should just look at themselves 10-15 years ago. It was a much less heavily scripted environment back then and the shows benefited because of it.
