At Wrestle Kingdom 12, Kenny Omega defeated Chris Jericho in an incredible and transformative match.

Building on the unprecedented critical acclaim that he had generated a year earlier against Kazuchika Okada, Omega proved himself a mega box office attraction on January 4, 2018. If anything, the cynicism that lingered over the match was beneficial: because few reasonably expected Jericho to deliver to that stratospheric New Japan main event standard, when he did, it scanned as a monumental over-delivery.

Layering the epic run-time and awesome back-and-forth at the finish - the chair shot Lionsault block into the One-Winged Angel was diamond-sharp match layout wizardry - the match was a seminal fusion of white-hot brawl, hysterical sports entertainment chaos, and the expected high-level athletic standard.

It was so deliriously entertaining, in fact, that fans, locked into the spell, were patient during one particular sequence. This sequence panicked Omega and Jericho. Omega tried to escape the Liontamer, but he couldn't find the cooling spray under the ring; what was already a small object had been dislodged by somebody else hunting for plunder earlier in the show.

This only came to light when Omega and Jericho shared a wry laugh on Talk Is Jericho after the fact, and Omega, by spraying his balls and looking momentarily turned on, broke the awkwardness in a flash by popping the crowd.
