Mick Foley was an incredible pro wrestler who was unparalleled at getting other wrestlers ever.

It's never as easy as emerging main event prospect beats established star, gets over. AEW has tried this countless times, resulting in almost as many noble failures. It takes a truly special talent to actually give somebody on the up the rub. Many vampires insist that they can to this day, but Foley could actually do it. He specialised in it.

Beyond his magic work with Triple H, Randy Orton and Edge, however, Foley was instrumental in revealing a more human, relatable side to the Rock in 1999, which allowed Rock to soar as the biggest draw in wrestling during one of its most popular periods ever. You may remember, during a September '99 edition of SmackDown, Foley and Rock doing some verbal jousting before Rock's sunglasses fell off his face. Foley improvised by simply registering the botch. The Rock then improvised, infamously saying "The Rock thanks you for that".

What you may not know or remember is that this never actually made air; it was cut from the original broadcast, was only brought to light after the fact, and to this day, remains edited on the WWE Network broadcast.
