8 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (24 Aug)

6. This Awful Man

Christian Cage
AEW

You could be forgiven for struggling to connect with Christian Cage's promo, given that it aired immediately after the shock and awe of Jon Moxley vs. CM Punk, but its content and delivery were on point despite the burnt-out viewership.

Christian Cage, the biggest sack of kayfabe trash in All Elite Wrestling, tried to paint himself as the good guy. He claimed he was extending an olive branch to Jungle Boy before last week's attack and while he admitted saying some personal things about his former ally, Cage tried to spin it as tough love. Every word that came out of his mouth was designed to paint him in a positive light despite overwhelming evidence that he is Just The Worst. It is fantastic, villainous content, proving that there are legs to this character beyond the low-hanging fruit insults, which were effective themselves.

Cage accepted Jungle Boy's All Out challenge. The match is on. Watch Christian come down to the ring with his arm still in a sling then whine about JB going after an injured man, before springing his latest despicable, hypocritical move.
