8 Ups & 1 Down From Impact Wrestling (Jul 7)

5. Purrazzo Plays The Mind Games

As was the case with the knockouts tag team match earlier in the evening, Jordynne Grace vs. Kimber Lee wasn't really anything other than a way to build towards Grace's Knockouts Championship match at Slammiversary with Deonna Purrazzo. Again like that tag team match though, the match was also a decent way to further showcase both Grace and Lee as two of the finest performers on the current Impact roster.

You can't even say that booking Kimber to lose to 'Thicc Mama Pump' was a terrible decision as a newcomer to the roster because she still got in a decent amount of offence against the reigning champion, including a gorgeous Swanton Bomb. There were some moments later on in the contest where Lee's forearms were treated like nothing, with Grace no seeling the blows to the face in favour of slamming Kimber to the mat repeatedly. That Michinoku driver, as well as the match-winning Grace Driver, both had Kimber Lee dropped on the back of her neck in vicious-looking sections of the bout.

Post-match, however, is when the real meat of the segment was dropped, as Grace's Slammiversary challenger Deonna Purrazzo teased an arrival at ringside, only to instead appear on the screen to inform Jordynne that she wouldn't be sharing with the reigning champ until Slammiversary itself (aside from their upcoming contract signing, of course). It was a simple, yet effective way to build more anticipation before their title clash on 18 July - exactly what 'The Virtuosa' is all about.
