8 Ups & 1 Down From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 22)
3. Happy Lana Day, Everyone
Haters begone: this was great.
With Rusev apparently chilling in Bulgaria, it was up to Aiden English to accompany Lana for her Money In The Bank qualifier against Billie Kay. He did a sterling job. Much like he would for her husband, 'The Shakespeare Of Song' sung 'The Ravishing Russian' down to the ring, prompting big "Lana Day" chants for the audience, who were into it from the start.
Out came The IIconics, who responded with an ear-piercingly obnoxious ditty of their own (seriously, that "Lana is a looossserrrr" was toe-curling). English then stuck around for the match, but the Aussies weren't best pleased with his antics. They slapped him up before Lana got involved, and while she appeared to gain the upper hand by jumping her opponent and rolling her inside, a quick head kick/X-Factor combo put the IIconic away in just over a minute.
A longer match between these two would've stunk up the show, so going this short was a wise idea. Besides, who says wrestling needs to be serious all the time? A little f***ery every now and then is good for the soul, and while the idea of Lana in a ladder match is worrying, her qualifier popped.
