8 Ups & 11 Downs For WWE In 2018 (So Far)

1. Brock Lesnar: Still Here, Still Champion

Part-time Universal Champion Brock Lesnar has jumped the shark.

Many fans would agree with this sentiment, but the timescales vary. For some, the idea of strapping a guy who only works a handful of dates each year was repugnant from day one, while others would argue that Brock's lack of appearances preserved his aura, ensuring a unique, special feeling every time he showed up. Now, however, you'd struggle to find anything beyond a few pockets of apologists willing to go to bat for the overpaid purple brute.

The Universal Title has been defended just six times during Lesnar's 460 days as champion, but his inactivity is just the iceberg's tip. His match quality is way down on what it used to be. He's presented as the only "special" performer on the roster, which means everyone else looks like s*** by default. The Reigns feud was a glorified burial. The list goes on.

Lesnar has overstayed his welcome and outlived his use. His stranglehold on Raw's main event scene has gone too far, and his rumoured UFC departure would now be best for all involved, particularly if WWE use the opportunity to mint a popular full-timer as his successor.
