8 Ups & 2 Downs For AEW Collision (29 July)

1. The Trend Continues

AEW Collision Mercedes Martinez Kiera Hogan
AEW

It feels repetitive to bring up this issue once again, but until AEW fixes this problem, it's one that has to be brought up.

The treatment of its women's division is something AEW is so often berated for, and with good reason. Here, on a two-hour AEW Collision broadcast, Mercedes Martinez vs. Kiera Hogan was given just over seven minutes, three of which were during a picture-in-picture commercial break.

Simply put, this isn't good enough, but again, it feels like a broken record to keep having to make such statements where it pertains to AEW's handling of its female roster.

For their part, Martinez and Hogan did fine with the amount of time they were allotted, with Mercedes tapping her opponent out. Post-match, Martinez's refusal to let go of the hold led to TBS Champion Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale hitting the ring to help thwart Mercedes, so that at least progresses something for the TBS Title - with it likely no accident how Ian Riccaboni said he'd love to see all four talents do battle for the TBS Championship.

Between the AEW and ROH rosters, Tony Khan has some magnificent women at his disposal. It's just a crying shame how Khan often chooses to utilise - or not - these performers.
