8 Ups & 2 Downs For AEW Collision (29 July)

5. Awesome Angry Allin

Seeing Minoru Suzuki on our screens is always a welcome sight, but even better is seeing a fired-up, aggressive Darby Allin.

Here, Darby was full of piss and vinegar before Collision's titles had even started. After being betrayed by this long-time pal AR Fox on this week's Dynamite, Allin was out to fight anyone. The two-time TNT Champion name-dropped Ricky Starks, Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, AR Fox, and Swerve Strickland in his pre-Collision promos as potential opponents for last night's show, but it would be Murder Grandpa himself who would answer Darby's call.

Allin's aggression wasn't restricted to his initial promo, mind, for he properly took it to Suzuki in the early goings of their match, nailing a dive on Minoru before he could even get in the ring. Darby is a special talent, who is just as impressive when selling as the undersized underdog as he is at delivering frenetic, violent offense - and he had particularly violent intent on display during the first few minutes of this bout.

Added to that, when Suzuki did take control of the match, Darby showed great resilience and smarts in reversing a choke into a pinning combination to get the 1-2-3.

Post-match, a Christian Cage - and technically Luchasaurus - promo served as a timely reminder of Darby Allin's impending shot at the TNT Title.
