8 Ups & 2 Downs For AEW Collision (29 July)

4. Samoa Joe Doing Samoa Joe Things

There was a slight temptation to give Samoa Joe vs. Gravity a Down due to how the masked high-flyer is in a tournament to earn a shot at Joe's ROH TV Title, yet was squashed here in barely two minutes. If Gravity has shown to have zero chance against the Samoan Submission Machine, why should anyone take him seriously in the ongoing ROH tournament?

Anyways, Joe vs. Gravity does get an Up, and that's down simply to Samoa Joe doing Samoa Joe things.

The highlight of the match - and a genuine highlight of the entire show - was Joe mocking Gravity's unique taunting walk as part of the Destroyer's usual walkaway spot. Apart from that, we had Joe pull out some of his other trademarks, notably the running senton, the jabs, and then a Muscle Buster that was more than enough to secure the 1-2-3.

This match was merely here to give Samoa Joe another win on AEW television, and in that regard it was perfectly adequate for what it needed to be.
