8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (30 June)

AEW Dynamite was back where it belongs last night, returning to Wednesdays after a long month of pre-empted shows due to clashes with the NBA playoffs.

This wasn't only a return to a more familiar timeslot, but a return to form as well. Last night was the kind of episode we expect from AEW's flagship. Bogged down by excessive interferences, sports entertainment style segments that outlived their use in a previous decade, wheel-spinning storylines, and a lack of marquee matches, the past few weeks have been tough. It wouldn't be a stretch to call June 2021 the most inconsistent month in Dynamite history.

Things swung back in the right direction with last week's blistering Kenny Omega vs. Jungle Boy match. Last night, however, was much more like it. Dynamite popped from start to finish.

The Young Bucks wrestled Penta El Zero Miedo and Eddie Kingston with a future Tag Team Title shot on the line should the babyfaces prevail, Miro defended the TNT Title against Brian Pillman Jr., and MJF finally settled his beef with Sammy Guevara. Elsewhere, there were appearances from Andrade El Idolo, Kenny Omega, and more.

Let's light the fuse.
