8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Nov 9)

3. Jamie Hayter: Championship Material

Jamie Hayter Skye Blue
AEW

Jamie Hayter Vs. Skye Blue was a surprisingly good and competitive match that was possibly best saved for a different episode.

The action was limp at some points and impactful at others, but rather than being uneven, it was paced nicely and the crowd started to get into it. Blue's code red variation was impressive and drew a big pop before Hayter obliterated her face with that awesome ripcord lariat. While Hayer probably shouldn't have been tested this much by a performer nowhere near her level in storylines - particularly ahead of the biggest match of her career - this was nonetheless a promising glimpse her of her potential as champion.

This is what champions do: they make lesser opponents look strong without denting their own credibility.

A strong night for Hayter, even if wasn't the sort of strong you'd expect at this point in her story arc.
