8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Full Gear 2020
3. Opener Of The Year

Yeah, this banged.
Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page opened the pay-per-view on the perfect note. This was a fierce, energetic, and bruising bout that was heated and urgent from the very first moment, with the duo's opening lock-up so competitive it took them all the way around the ring. V-Trigger and sliding Lariat attempts came out early, telling the audience these two weren't going to waste time with a feeling-out process. From there, it was all killer, no filler, with no hamfisted, over-the-top internal conflict from two old friends as they beat the tar out of each other. They were focused on winning, not staring at their hands, wondering if they could come to terms with doing what was necessary.
Page's Deadeye to Omega on the ramp took the match to a new level of intensity. A big bomb exchange unfolded thereafter, leading to an incredible Page near-fall as the storm of offense popped and snapped.
Kenny's win came via wrestling's most protected finisher, the One Winged Angel, after just over 16 minutes. The relatively short runtime and decisive were on purpose: these guys have an epic in them, but you'll have to wait for it.
