8 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2019

Ups...

8. The Right Result

The only straight-up non-title singles match of the night saw Moose and Rob Van Dam collide in RVD's first pay-per-view since resigning with Impact back in April, and it was a fine match for what it was.

Moose has made it his mission to rid Impact of these ECW icons who have been making their presence felt in the company over the last few weeks, with the 'Whole F'N Show' being at the top of his list. Thus, he issued this challenge for Slammiversary, and came out looking as strong as can be. Sure, he cheated along the way with a low blow (it's not cheating if the referee doesn't see, mind you), but it was a decisive finish.

RVD hit a Van Daminator and scaled up the ropes for a Five Star Frog Splash, only to instead land on a steel chair. He then had his ribs shattered with one of Moose's devastating spears for the three count, hopefully putting an end to this storyline in the process.

Undoubtedly, this was the right result. By having Moose win, it's sort of like having the veteran putting over the younger star. Even though he's been going for a good while now, Moose is of course still classed as the younger name compared to RVD.

Now, back to championship contention for him?
