8 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Victory Road 2020

1. Never Bet Against A Maniac

Eric Young vs. Eddie Edwards was never going to be a letdown in any way, but your writer didn't expect it to be quite as good as it actually was.

The action started hot, died down a little, got hot again, and remained on that trajectory throughout the duration of the bout, creating the perfect mix. Young was busted open essentially as soon as the bell rang, however, it was actually Edwards who suffered the brutality here. His knee was already at less than 100 per cent after Ken Shamrock's attacks, with 'The World Class Maniac' capitalising on the weakened body part by using the environment to add further insult to injury.

It didn't completely change Eddie's repertoire, though, as he still used his signature manoeuvres for the most part. A hybrid of a piledriver with a single leg Boston crab was enough to keep him down for the three count. Rich Swann, EY's challenger for Bound For Glory, saved the former two-time World Champion from any further damage after the bell, as the 24 October main event is now officially set in stone.

Between the wrestling itself and the story that was told, you couldn't get much better on this show than the World Championship match. The pair have tremendous chemistry together, and it shows. It completely blows their previous match out of the water, which says plenty in itself.

Now we have Eric Young vs. Rich Swann to look forward to. Your writer can't wait to see what comes of that.
