8 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE NXT (Jul 13)
1. Karrion Kross Retains... And Provokes
The added element of Samoa Joe being infused into last night's NXT Championship main event was always going to open the door for chaos at some point down the line. Hell, Joe's various confrontations with Johnny Gargano and Karrion Kross in the lead-up to the contest on the night itself seemed to pretty much guarantee it.
However, instead of cashing in on the screwy finish card NXT had equipped themselves with in the epic show-closer, a more compelling and altogether more intriguing route was opted for. As 'Johnny Wrestling' was revived for the tall order at hand, the diminutive underdog was routinely faced with the reality of Kross simply not being like most men. Moves that would usually have bought the former NXT Champion respite were futile as Kross refused to lay down and bulldozed through his challenger like a force looking to prove a point to the special guest ref.
Even when Gargano looked primed to seize a golden opportunity to become the top dog once again on the back of some Kross/Joe squabbling, the Bringer of Doomsday was able to power out of a One Final Beat too. Three monumental powerbombs, one Doomsday Saito, and a devastating forearm later, a message was sent loud and clear; Kross eats Garganos for breakfast.
Not content with this seismic finale, Kross then proceeded to choke the life out of NXT's enforcer and simultaneously provoke a feud out of the most over man in the CWC. That is, if Joe is able to compete at this moment in time. If not, who else is there to go at for the dominant, undefeated man? Pete Dunne would be fun, but would you take that over a Samoan Submission Machine going to war with NXT's new chosen one at TakeOver?
In the words of another bald beast of a man... give us what we want, Triple H.
