8 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE NXT (Jul 13)
7. Cameron Grimes Goes To The Broom
As expected, Cameron Grimes as a butler is an all-out hoot.
Instead of having The Dogefather simply succumb to his new boss and play the lowly right hand man from the off, though, NXT opted to give Grimes some room to breathe his millionaire persona into the role - to hilarious effect.
Taking the job in his stride, a trimmed up Grimes was tasked with mowing LA Knight's substantial lawn. Yet, instead of breaking a sweat and spending hours trimming the grass with equipment not fit for purpose, Grimes opted to recruit a young whippersnapper to get the job done with the promise of $500 waiting at the finish line for him. Delegation is key.
Obviously, Knight was never going to be satisfied with this genius approach to manual labour and soon lashed out at the uninvited young guest. Though this move soon resulted in a bruised knee and an abrupt swim for the Million Dollar Champion.
Was it goofy? Yup. But both men excel in this slapstick environment and the refusal to stick within the tropes of old when it comes to this dynamic will no doubt add longevity to a rather enjoyable odd-couple pairing.
