8 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2024 (Results & Review)
Ups...
8. Starting With The Women
Kicking off the show with the women's Rumble was the correct call. Why? No offence intended, but it was the lesser of two titular specials this year. The men's version boasted a 'who will win?!' stand off between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk; the 30-woman epic didn't quite have as much juice to it.
It's still a Rumble and people were there to see it though.
Spacing both Rumbles out is wise, and that's exactly what WWE did in Florida. Running them back-to-back would've outright killed one of them (likely the women's one for aforementioned reasons), so there was a clear level of energy in the building when Samantha Irvin announced what was up first.
One can only imagine what kind of apathetic response Natalya would've received had she been out first for a women's match that fell after Cody's victory, Here's hoping the promotion can drum up some more interest across the board for the ladies next year.
If not, then it'll get the opening slot again.
