8 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 27)

2. Teasing Things To Come?

The Miz Daniel Bryan

If you were watching closely, you might've spotted the subtle heel flourishes to The Miz's work on SmackDown this week. During his entrance, Miz coldly shot a dismissive glare at Daniel Bryan. Mid-Triple Threat, he tried to stave off Bryan's escape from a Figure Four submission by raking his eyes. It was like 2011 all over again.

That could be a hint of what's to come.

Miz shouldn't be thrilled that Daniel eventually made him tap out either. Could it be that Bray Wyatt will finally have his way with Mr. Mizanin and change him like he has Finn Bálor, Daniel and Seth Rollins before? A heel run opposite Bryan would be fun for Miz in the new year, and it's a feud WWE hasn't shied away from even when both are goodies.

He'd be more effective as a villain at the moment anyway. Bryan, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman are shoring up the babyface side, and 'King' Corbin, Wyatt himself and a few select others require help on the heel team.
