8 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 27)

3. Roman Reigns Costs 'King' Corbin

If WWE bashed their brains together pre-show to come up with a way to protect 'King' Corbin and get Roman Reigns back on SmackDown following a week off, then they should make a habit of such brain-bashing from now on. The way Roman romped out to confront his arch enemy and remove him from the main event Triple Threat was class.

It also made sense. Why would Reigns sit back and watch Corbin potentially become #1 contender to the Universal Title? He wouldn't, and that was the beauty of his multiple run-ins. The night was permeated with Roman acting like a bad ass and Corbin coming across as a coward who wasn't getting his own way, and it didn't interrupt the eventual flow of the contendership mix.

How lovely it is to credit WWE for genuinely good writing.

The writers need a pat on the back for the way they've handled Reigns recently. He's not being shoved down fan throats, and they're leaning on his strengths as a likeable leader who won't take any crap from crown-wearing cretins like Corbin.
