8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (16 Mar)

2. Wardlow's Weak, WEAK Defeat

Scorpio Sky Wardlow
AEW

Wardlow vs. Scorpio Sky was broadly good, telling the tale of Sky attempting to chop the big tree down by targeting the legs and sternum as well as via heel shortcuts. The TNT Champion came off was as a smart, scheming heel and his bumps for Wardlow's power spots looked great. The challenger, meanwhile, is hugely over, as evidenced by the roars of support for his comebacks and baying for the Symphony spots.

Sky winning isn't a problem, either. Most viewers would have seen MJF's interference to cost Wardlow the match coming. After Wardlow went to such great lengths to distance himself from Max last week, a spurned Friedman striking back theoretically puts further support behind Wardlow for being scumbagged out of the biggest singles match of his career, bringing a new level of heat to the impending MJF feud.

But the finish was beyond weak. All it took to fell the big, imposing monster was being rammed into the ring post once, then a simple Sky roll-up.

That was it.

The accumulated damage to Wardlow's targeted areas didn't factor into it at all - and Scorp could have at least hit a couple of big moves to make this more convincing. Instead, the big man looked like a glass cannon when we are supposed to receive him like a beast.
