8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (6 July)

4. No Swerves For Strickland & Lee

Swerve In Our Glory

It had its rough moments, Swerve In Our Glory vs. The Butcher and The Blade, most notably when Keith Lee missed a pinfall break-up, drawing unfavourable chants from the live crowd.

Nonetheless, the match hit its goal. Lee is teasing a break-up with Swerve Strickland but not quite yet. As affirmed when Mark Sterling attempted to recruit Keith for his class action lawsuit against Swerve, they're still winning, so they're still working. Here, they defeated Butcher and Blade with the only hint of friction coming when Lee accidentally Pounced Swerve, who was pulling to Blade's path. It's not Keith's fault at all but is exactly the kind of thing that a heel might use against him post-turn.

Butcher and Blade were as bludgeonous as always, while the former continues showing increased fire. His early frustration manifested in him attempting to grab a steel chair to clobber Lee with. Later, his excellent lariat broke Strickland.

AEW ran a promo train afterwards, setting The Young Bucks up to defend their World Tag Team Championships against Swerve In Our Glory and Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs next week. "FTR" chants peppered those, showing who the crowd really wants to take the straps, though the bout, at the very least, should be tremendous.
