8 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (1 July)

3. Beybyface

Chris Bey appeared to have turned a corner last night, saving Josh Alexander, Trey Miguel, and Petey Williams from Ace Austin, Rohit Raju, Madman Fulton, and Shera, embracing with the babyfaces afterwards.

The way this was executed was near perfect. 'The Ultimate Finesser' had denied any allegiance during an interview earlier in the night, with Ace and co. insisting they didn't want him on their said as it was. This was followed by Bey pinning Petey in a typical X Division banger that saw 'The Canadian Destroyer' perform a sick release German suplex/snap knee strike combination. An Art of Finesse got Bey the win.

It was after the bell where everything went down. Chris Bey was visibly frustrated when Ace led his squad to lay the boots into Petey, and even more so when Alexander and Miguel attempted a save. When Bey finally had enough and ran back in, it was delightful stuff.

The truth of the matter is that Chris Bey, as impeccable a cocky heel as he is, is simply too good a wrestler to be jeered. As a babyface, he'll no doubt flourish flawlessly in the role. His in-ring arsenal certainly deserves it, anyway.
