8 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (8 April)
2. Something Is Alwayz Ready
Despite lacking a proper reason to happen, Matt Cardona’s match with Jake Something was a fun affair while it lasted. They work surprisingly well together and had a few neat spots here for what it’s worth.
It was a decent clash of styles, as Cardona had to be more calculated in his attacks, whereas Something was capable of knocking the former Zack Ryder down a peg or two with a single strike. Demonstrating this with a stiff Lariat at ringside, the former Cousin Jake exuded star power here. He countered a Radio Silence at one stage into a sit-down Powerbomb that, while a simple counter, was executed brilliantly.
Brian Myers interrupting the match to cause a no contest was fine. It helped further the story between he and Cardona, as ‘The Most Professional Wrestler’ accepted Matt’s challenge for a match at Rebellion, and it also set up a match for him at Hardcore Justice. He’ll face Jake in a Hardcore Blindfold Match, having sent Jake eye-first into the ring steps here.
Myers looked like a legitimate star, and Cardona and Something had a solid match. This one ticked all the right boxes.
