8 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jan 14)

1. Surprise, Surprise

Despite capturing the World Championship from Sami Callihan at Hard To Kill, the issues between Tessa Blanchard and oVe are far from over. This was made evidently clear as 'The Draw' interrupted Tessa's sit-down interview with Josh Mathews.

Just as Blanchard was discussing how she felt on top of the world with her pinfall victory against the devious Callihan, he popped up on screen talking about how he's the real history-maker. He put Impact back on the map when he debuted at Bound For Glory 2017, claiming that he and he alone pumped blood back into the dead carcass of Impact Wrestling. After going on about how nobody cared when he was making history, Sami revealed his location - by the looks of things, it seemed as if he was in the control room.

Once Tessa got there though, Sami was nowhere to be seen, again popping up on the screen as he told the new champ that she would never know when or where he was going to appear. He wants the World Championship back, and there doesn't appear to be anything or anyone that can stop him from getting there.

You're going to get those who complain that this rivalry has become far too drawn out. However, it's getting plenty of positive attention and exposure for both themselves and Impact Wrestling as a whole. There's nothing wrong if that's what it means. Sure, it's been going for almost a year, but it's proven to be one of the most personal rivalries in Impact history, and recent wrestling history entirely if we're looking at it from a wider perspective.

No matter how the rivalry ends, that fact won't change whatsoever.
