8 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jan 14)

2. Frantic Opener

The opener to this week's Impact was a four-team tag match that saw Reno Scum, Dez and Wentz of The Rascalz, Shera and Rohit Raju of The Desi Hit Squad, and the team of Daga and TJP put on quite the fast-paced opener.

It's always an exciting prospect when you get performers with different styles mix it up, especially in this case. You had two powerhouse units in the form of Reno Scum and The Desi Hit Squad, while the other two pairings utilised a more high-flying style, which made for a thrilling encounter. It wasn't a perfect match, and it didn't do anything to further any recent storylines, but it was a fine way to open the show.

Shera and Raju, in particular, were on top form in this match, with the latter even being used as a weapon by his partner. Their match-ending pouncing knee strike/Sky High combination was also a beauty, combining the pair's singles finishers into one outstanding manoeuvre.

Since there was no build to it and it meant nothing in the long-run, the eight men involved had to rely on their in-ring skills to put on a great match, something they certainly accomplished. For a company that's had a great deal of fantastic doubles action over the years, it truly is a fantastic sight to see that fact isn't changing any time soon.
