8 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling Rebellion 2019
4. Two Generations
A multi-generational match featuring Tessa Blanchard and Gail Kim was one of the selling points of the event, marking Gail's first match since February 2018. Tessa had essentially goaded Gail out of her retirement thanks to her actions both in the ring and out of it, and this resulted in a cracking match between the duo.
Between the experience brought by Gail and the tenacity brought by Tessa, the pair created something truly special within the squared circle. With both Gail's husband Robert Irvine and Tessa's father Tully Blanchard watching from the audience, there were suicide dives, crossbodies, and finishing moves exchanged. A Magnum from Tessa following by an armbar caused Gail to tap out in her return match.
What came after the bell felt as emotional as can be as the two embraced, followed by chants of "thank you Gail". By the looks of things, Gail's comeback was a one-time thing and she isn't actually back full-time. Even if this was just a one-off, you can't take anything away from both ladies. The Knockouts division is on fire at the moment thanks to matches like this. Long may it continue.
