8 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling Rebellion 2019

2. Drilled Into History

Well, Brian Cage followed through on his promise as he finally captured the Impact World Championship from Johnny Impact in the penultimate contest of the evening. The Machine had the odds stacked against him, thanks to Taya Valkyrie and corrupt referee Johnny Bravo intervening by setting up a table at ringside. It would however be Impact who went through the table instead though.

There were a handful of unique spots in this one, including Impact's Spanish Fly off the ramp that resulted in an injury being suffered by Cage. With special guest ref Lance Storm laying the law straight down the middle though, he ensured Impact couldn't use the champion's advantage as a cheap way to cling on to the title as he refused to disqualify the champion after being attacked.

A Drill Claw put an end to Johnny Impact's 196 day reign with the World Championship, and now begins Brian Cage's long-awaited championship run. Despite the injury to the new champion, there's still no word as to whether or not it'll be serious enough to keep him out of action. It'd be a shame if that were to happen, seeing as he's worked so hard to get to where he now is.
