8 Ups & 4 Downs For AEW Collision (May 18 - Results & Review)
3. More Of The Same
Similar to the Shibata and Romero match, Orange Cassidy vs. Isiah Kassidy was fundamentally a fun match with very little drama to it.
While all involved in the group have varying levels of appeal and ability, your writer never particularly cared for the Best Friends at any point during their time in AEW. As such, the break-up of this group continues to fall pretty flat, even if Trent Beretta did garner a decent amount of heat from the Portland crowd as he watched on from ringside before eventually challenging Freshly Squeezed to a straight-up wrestling match at Double or Nothing.
For Orange vs. Isiah, as alluded to, the action itself was solid, with Kassidy once again nicely making the most of the opportunity to showcase his ability in a singles setting, complete with a Silly String that was assisted by referee Stephon Smith. The Private Party man similarly had some really nice selling, with his sheer athleticism making it great to watch Kassidy bump around when called for.
To the surprise of nobody, OC got the win with the Break Break, then showed some nice fire as he laid out Beretta post-match.
Also, Trent noting how "rules matter" helps this one get an Up, for this particular old man writer forever bangs on about AEW and the company's frequent ignoring of the basic rules of a pro wrestling match. Yes, I'm one of those people, sorry.
