8 Ups & 4 Downs For AEW Collision (May 18 - Results & Review)

7. Claudio Delivers Promo Gold

AEW Collision Claudio Castagnoli Jon Moxley
AEW

Claudio Castagnoli has long been known as one of the best in-ring workers of his generation. Between the ropes, the Swiss Superman is an absolute beast, blending effortless technical proficiency with electric speed and otherworldly power and striking. For the longest time, the one criticism some have had about the Blackpool Combat Club man is his promo ability.

With no exaggeration, Collision may have seen Claudio cut the finest promo of his career.

What started with Jon Moxley - with Castagnoli at his side - cutting a standard, solid Moxley promo about "playing for blood" geared towards Konosuke Takeshita, turned into a standout moment for Claudio. Taking the reigns, Castagnoli excelled in a heartfelt, sincere promo about other wrestlers spouting rehearsed, generic lines about their greatness, passion, and dreams - all as Mox watched on, smiling like a proud parent as his BCC cohort knocked it out of the park.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic.
