8 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Oct 7)

4. FTR Cruise Through TH2

The Hybrid 2 scoring a Tag Team Title shot after barely featuring on AEW television this year was a sketchy move, though the bout largely delivered, with FTR defeating Jack Evans and Angelico cleanly.

Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood have become increasingly dastardly under Tully Blanchard's tutelage. Last week saw them screw SoCal Uncensored out of a potential victory, which is justified, as Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian are an established top-tier tag team in this promotion. FTR should have difficulty beating them. TH2, meanwhile, are a mid-level unit. The champions shouldn't need to dip into their bag of tricks - and they didn't.

Some inconsistent late-match leg selling aside, this was a fun bout that started with Angelico and Evans in control, sending FTR outside to regroup early on. The tide turned when Evans jacked his knee up, with Dax and Cash systematically picking him apart thereafter. Angelico smooth llave work had the traditionalists flummoxed on several occasions before FTR sent a message to the watching Young Bucks, finishing things with a superplex followed by a top rope splash.

Good stuff, with the early and mid-match limb work particularly satisfying.
