8 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Feb 11)

3. One Win Away

Michael Elgin and Eddie Edwards' best of five series continued this week, with 'Big Mike' going up two wins to nothing, now being just one win away from taking the series as a whole. As was the case with all of the duo's previous outings, it was a fast-paced, high-intensity, generally brutal match. What else would you be expecting?

There wasn't any opportunity to rest here. Between Elgin's stiff forearms to the jaw and Edwards' impressive release German suplexes on his much larger adversary, things were kicked into the highest possible gear from the moment the bell rang. Both men were sickeningly dropped on their necks at numerous points during the match, including an immensely nasty moment that saw Eddie turn all his body weight to land directly on the back of his neck upon taking a lariat from the Canadian.

It was a powerbomb-heavy match on Elgin's part, with a sitout powerbomb catching Edwards mid-flight and a powerbomb on the ring apron leading 'Unbreakable' Mike to hit both a Buckle Bomb and an Elgin Bomb en route to securing victory number two in this best of five series. As is seemingly being said following every single one of the pair's encounters, this very well may have been their best bout yet.

Depending on who wins match number three in the series, that could be the last match between the two for some time, unless Eddie scores his first point. Fingers crossed that he does, if it means more of these outstanding matches to look forward to.
