8 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (May 19)

7. Swingin' And Finessin'

For some ungodly reason, Johnny Swinger was challenging Willie Mack for the X Division Championship, a match that was surprisingly alright seeing as it involved 'The Swing Man'. He was like a different man here, pouncing on Willie as soon as the match began. He'll be back next week trying to reform The Mack'n'Pack Connection, but for just now, this was a nice little tweak that made it more enjoyable to watch him vs. 'Chocolate Thunder'.

Swinger, naturally, presumed he had won the title upon hearing the referee count to two and then stop - in reality, Mack had put his foot across the bottom rope to escape a loss to a swinging neckbreaker. All it took was a Mackarena moonsault, and Willie Mack remained our X Division Champion. That's when things got real interesting though, as Chris Bey - who had caused this match to happen after making some comments behind Willie's back - rolled into the ring, and joined Swinger in the post-match beatdown.

It remains to be seen whether or not Bey and Swinger will be an actual full-time alliance going forward, but if we're being honest, it wouldn't necessarily be the worst thing to happen. 'The Ultimate Finesser' may not be too familiar to fans of Impact, so perhaps he could do with someone guiding his path, at least for the time being. As long as Swinger doesn't become the face of the pairing, then it's an Up.
