8 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (May 19)
6. A New Challenger Enters
We're about a month and a half away from The North being Impact World Tag Team Champions for a full calendar year, which will mark the first time in history any team has held those titles for a full 365 days (or, in this case, 366 days due to the leap year). The last two weeks have seen them battling 'the best Canada has to offer', which have made for some highly entertaining skits, but now there's a real threat being positioned as the team to take the straps from Ethan Page and Josh Alexander.
Cody Deaner has finally left his Kwaranteen to confront 'All Ego' and 'The Walking Weapon' at the Battle Arts Academy. Without Cousin Jake by his side though, Cody will need to find a partner to challenge Page and Alexander for next week, when they battle at the Deaner Compound. If the Compound is anything like the cinematic matches we've seen in recent times, or even like any of the 'Broken' Matt Hardy matches from a few years ago, then we're in for quite the treat.
While Cody's partner remains a mystery, it's truly delightful to see him getting such an opportunity. He's been one of the most entertaining parts of Impact in the last few weeks. Even if it isn't The Deaners together for the match, it'll be a treat to the eyes regardless. The only negative is this possible means no more of Cody's kwarantee segments.
